We’re excited to announce Bright ‘n Green will be an official tour for the 12th annual Openhousenewyork (OHNY), a five borough-wide celebration of architecture and design will take place on October 11 & 12 2014. OHNY Weekend, which is becoming a New York City tradition, engages the public in the built environment by offering free access to hundreds of sites that exemplify New York City’s diverse architectural, design, engineering, and cultural heritage. OHNY is a non-profit cultural organization founded in 2001 in New York City, to promote awareness and appreciation of New York’s architecture, design and cultural heritage through year-round, educational programs.
Bright ‘n Green is on its way to becoming one of the city’s highest-ranking green buildings, meeting LEED Platinum standards as well as the prestigious Living Building certification. If you’re curious to see what this impressive new development looks like, it will be opening its doors for tours – so don’t miss them!
Utilizing 133 solar panels, natural bio-filtration systems, geothermal Earth Tube heating, super-insulated steel structural panels, Passive House Design, multi-stage air and water purification systems, water reclamation systems, triple pane insulated windows, and more, Bright ‘n Green achieves net-zero energy use while facilitating the highest quality of indoor living environment. Bright ‘n Green has received the NYC Big Apple Brownfields Design Award Building of the Year, the City of New York Mayor’s Office of Environmental Remediation Green Property Certification, the Society of American Registered Architects National Award of Excellence, the Board of Directors of the New York Society of American Registered Architects Building Performance Technology Design Award, as well, a Green Building Initiative 4 out of 4 Green Globes Professional Certification, the highest level National Green Building Standard Certification, and more.
